Edward Dumann, age 88, of 4303 Sommer Drive Sheboygan died Saturday September 18, 2010 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. Edward was born Feb. 15, 1922 in Belgium, WI to the late Edward and Pauline (Hackbarth) Dumann. Edward graduated from Port Washington High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served his country from 1940 until his retirement from the Navy in 1964. Edward was very proud of his military service. He then worked for the Kohler Company in the generator division. Edward married Lucille Karl on April 15, 1944 in Alexandria, Louisiana; she preceded him in death on June 11, 1992. Edward then married the former Shirley (Wegman) Schraut on July 2, 1993 in Sheboygan. Edward loved taking the motor home to warm vacation destinations. Edward was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, step children Robert (Pauline) Schraut of Marion, Timothy (Mary) Schraut of Jackson, WI, Dale (Sue) Schraut of Oostburg, Sara Gahagan of Manitowoc, three step grandchildren Nicole (Scott) Simon of Luxemburg, Jaclyn Schraut of Grand Chute, and Michelle Schraut of Grand Chute. Edward is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Family and friends visited at the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Visitation continued on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1121 Georgia Ave., Sheboygan. Funeral service were held 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. James Hartman officiating. Entombment followed at the Garden Terrace Mausoleum with military honors being accorded by VFW Post #9156.
A memorial fund has been established in Edward's name for Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the Aurora St. Luke's NSICU staff for the wonderful compassionate care given to Edward.
