Clarence “Sully” Salzwedel died on Saturday, December 1, 2018 surrounded by family at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. Sully was born to the late Clarence Salzwedel and La Verne Grunow on September 4, 1940 in Sheboygan. He graduated from North High School in the class of 1959. Sully worked at General Box for a few years and then spent the next 37 years of his career at Kohler Company where he retired when he was 62 years old. He was an avid bowler and bowled in the ABC Nationals Championship Tournament. He enjoyed going to many Packers games over the last 51 years with his family and friends. He made it to nearly all of them. Sully played semi-pro football for the Sheboygan Redskins in the 1950s and played fast and slow pitch softball. One of his great memories from fast pitch softball was getting a hit off of Eddie “The King” Feigner. Over the last 15 years he and his wife enjoyed wintering in Gold Canyon, AZ.
Sully is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy; son Chuck (Sandy) Salzwedel of Oregon, WI; grandchildren Ashley (Jim) Hagen of New Glarus, WI, Jonathon Stone of Worcester, MA and Jacob Salzwedel of Oregon, WI; great-granddaughter Brynlee Hagen; sisters-in-law Dianne (Don) Parker of Gold Canyon, AZ and Jenny Jerving of Middleton, WI. He is further survived by nephews.
Sully is preceded in death by two infant sons, his mother La Verne and father Ed Awe.
A memorial service will be held for Sully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Ave., Sheboygan, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a reception to follow the service in the church hall. A private family burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
