Howard “Howie” Schneider, age 98 of Sheboygan passed away Tuesday morning November 27, 2018. He was born August 30, 1920 to the late Otto and Stella (Herwig) Schneider in Sheboygan Falls. He married Irene Mayer on Feb. 14, 1942; she preceded him in death July 20, 2000. Howard was a U.S. Air Force WWII veteran, seeing active duty in Europe. He was part of the 384th Bomb Squadron; he was honorably discharged on August 22, 1945. Howie was proud to have been a part of the Honor Flight on October 8, 2011.
Howard worked for 36 years at R-Way Furniture in the shipping and transportation department, retiring in August of 1982. Howard and his wife enjoyed many years wintering in Sarasota, Florida. He was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, ushering for many years and serving on several different committees. He was a member of the Town and Country Golf Course for many years. Every Saturday morning, Howie would meet his friends at the West McDonalds for coffee, some of the sharpest minds in the area would be sitting around that table. Sunday between the hours of seven and nine he would be at Gosse’s Northwestern House listening to Pope Rogers and his predictions for the present and future. Howie devoted his life to his family and friends. He left his imprint on all who knew and loved him. Remember: “No man is a failure who has friends.”
Howard is survived by his daughter Nancy Brown of Palm Beach, Florida and her children Jodilynn Brown of Palm Beach, FL, Julieann Brown of Alexandria, VA, David (Tabitha) Brown of Sarasota, FL, son Howard (Louise) Schneider of Edina, MN and his children Andrea (Chris) Neuville of Green Bay, Dawn (Joe) Nocera of Washington Heights, NY, Gretchen (Mark) Nelson of Lake Elmo, MN. Howie was further survived by his close friend Bernice Walter.
Family and friends may call at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Pastor James Schulz, pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will officiate.
Entombment will take place at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum with military honors being accorded by VFW #9156.
