    Steffie Lautenschlager, age 89, passed away Sunday May 27, 2018 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where she resided the last 3 months. Steffie was born January 6, 1929 in Sheboygan. She was the daughter of the late Florian Sr. and Josephine (Prisland) Slapnick.

     

    Steffie had several painful physical aliments that included Disjointed hips and severe arthritis throughout her life. Steffie’s determination to overcome these ailments allowed her to enjoy her life with her family and relatives.

     

    On August 28, 1948 Steffie was united in marriage to Frederick “Fritz” Lautenschlager who preceded her in death on January 15, 2008 following 60 years of marriage.

     

    Steffie worked for Wisconsin Plastics, Dahler Machine Company for 20 years and for Lakeland Manufacturing for 10 years. Steffie volunteered many hours at her church, SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, and was a member of the Christian Women's Society and the KSKJ Fraternal Insurance organization.

     

    Her greatest joy was attending her grandson Matt's baseball and football games. She and Fritz followed Matt and his team wherever they played. Steffie cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Steffie always commented how much she loved and appreciated her husband Fritz for taking such good care of her and for the 60 trips he made with her to the Mayo Clinic for her annual yearly check-ups.

     

    Surviving Steffie are her son Steve (Michelle) Lautenschlager of Whitefish Bay, WI. Her grandsons Matt (Kristin) Lautenschlager and Brad (fiance Emily) Lautenschlager and her granddaughter Lauren (Eric) Beckman. Her great grandchildren Logan and Brady Lautenschlager and Liam Beckman.

     

    In addition to her parents, her husband, and her son Lee, Steffie was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary, Tillie and Josephine and her brother Florian Jr., and her sister-in-law Enola Malzahn.

     

    A mass to celebrate Steffie's life will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 828 New Jersey Ave. in Sheboygan. Family and friends can visit with the family from 11a.m. to 1p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father Richard Cerpich, will follow the visitation.

     

    A memorial fund has been established in Steffie's name for SS Cyril and Methodius Church and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

     

    Steffie's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sunny Ridge Nursing home and the Sharon S. Richardson Community hospice caregivers that took such good care of Steffie the last 2 months. To Pastor Marianne Brandt and Father Richard Cerpich for your visits with Steffie at the nursing home. All of you were her special angels....
