John M. Boerner, age 76, of Sheboygan, found peace and is now free to remember on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born in Sheboygan on January 16, 1942 the son of the late Martin and Mary Primozic Boerner.
John attended Kohler Schools and graduated from Kohler High School in 1960. He then enlisted in the United State Marine Corp., serving his country from 1960 to 1966. He was welder/metal fabricator at Optenberg Iron Works for over twenty years.
On December 9, 1984, John was united in marriage to Cathy Herzog of Sheboygan. He enjoyed fishing, baking petica and most of all being Santa Claus. During the Christmas season John would dress up as Santa Claus, his granddaughter Amanda would join him in going to random homes throughout the community to visit the children. John was also a proud member of American Legion Post #83.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy; a step-daughter, Jennifer (Scott Pieper) Charles, of Waldo; five grandchildren, Tim Schmeiser, Amanda Hengst, Martha Schmeiser, all of Sheboygan, Jonny Hanson and Brody Charles, both of Waldo; his brother, James (Phyllis) Boerner, of Sheboygan; two sisters, Jacqueline Daniels, of Oshkosh and Jeanie (Scott) Mullen, of Sheboygan. John was also survived by his special fury companion “Sophie” who never left his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mary Schmeiser, his son, Douglas Charles and a grandson, Alexander Hanson.
In accordance to John’s wishes no services will be held.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion, wonderful care, Veterans quilt and Veterans Pinning Ceremony that was given to John.
