Katherine Warburton, age 95, of Sheboygan, died on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born November 16, 1922 in Manitowoc County to the late Christian and Theresa Kemle of Kohler, formerly of Austria-Hungary.
She graduated from Kohler High School in 1940 and worked for the Kohler Company until she married Earl P. Warburton of Sheboygan at Bethany Lutheran Church July 12, 1941. The couple moved to Cudahy and worked at the Packing House for two years. While her husband was in the army, Katherine went back to work at the Kohler Company until 1945. Then Katherine worked at a print shop until she went to work at H. C. Prange's. She retired in 1983 as an Area Manager of Soft Lines in Prangeway.
She has volunteered at Memorial Hospital, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Partners in Reading at Cooper School, Festival of Tree's, VIL's and First United Lutheran Church, voting polls, Martha Circle and baked for many occasions.
She and her husband had been in a dancing club for over 50 years. They loved to travel all over the United States including Hawaii. Katherine went to Alaska in 2008 and had a wonderful time. December of 2009 Katherine went on a trip to California to attend the Rose Bowl parade and tour the Pasadena area. She always enjoyed playing cards, gardening flowers and plants and loved to read and travel. She enjoyed and had fun no matter what she did, including exercising.
She enjoyed her family, especially, her great grandson, Taylor and twin great-granddaughtes Hope and Faythe.
Her survivors include, her son Richard (Judy) Warburton, of Howards Grove; a daughter, Barbara Bishop, of Sheboygan; grandson, Tim Warburton; granddaughter Traci Schmitz; great-grandson, Taylor; and her great-granddaughters. Hope and Faythe and a great great-grandson, Oliver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, sisters, Elizabeth Michael and Elaine Christenson, her brother, Fred Kemle and a son-in-law, Jerry Bishop.
A memorial service for Katherine will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 12:00 p.m. at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan with Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
Katherine’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Pine Haven Christian Home and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to her.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for First United Lutheran Church.
