Dr. Eugene “Doc” “Butch” Hurtienne, age 95 of Sheboygan passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Eugene was born May 1, 1922 in Sheboygan to the late William and Lena (Rumney) Hurtienne. He was a 1940 graduate of Central High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy being stationed in the Philippines during WWII. Eugene then furthered his education and graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatry. He was a podiatrist in Sheboygan for many years; his office was located on the corner of North Ave. and N. 8th Street. Following retirement, Eugene enjoyed spending his winters in Florida. He was an avid bowler and golfer at Riverdale where he was known as one of the “Legends”. In his earlier years, Eugene was a member of the Lakeshore Kiwanis Evening Club and was instrumental in organizing the Kiwanis Fun Fair. More recently he looked forward to the annual Gus Macker Basketball Tournament. Eugene was a longtime member of the Sheboygan Elks Lodge #299.
Survivors include his brother Harry Hurtienne of Sheboygan, nephews William Hurtienne and Paul Hurtienne nieces; Denise Garmon, Amy Hurtienne, Arline Wieberdink, Joan Meylink, Carol Drews, Vicki Radovan and Ann Schmitter.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Elvera Henning and a brother Roland Hurtienne.
Family and friends may call at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 2114 Wedemeyer St. in Sheboygan on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 9-11 a.m. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the church with Rev. Jeremy Hylen, officiating. Burial to follow in the Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Eugene’s name for St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Chancel Choir, and hand bell choirs.

Eugene’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Dr. DeTrana and Dr. Kerpe, especially nurses Carrie and Rachel, the 4th floor staff of St. Nicholas Hospital, Sunny Ridge Nursing Home and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
