    Helen M. Freitag, age 91, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017.

    She was born July 5, 1926 in Appleton, WI to Lester and Rosa (Benzschawel) Schulze.  Later the family relocated to Kohler, WI where Helen attended Kohler Schools.

    She was employed at Kohler Company where she met Donald H. Freitag.
      On December 29, 1951, Helen and Donald were united in marriage at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Sheboygan.  He preceded her in death on February 6, 2000.

    Helen also worked for over 25 years in the retail store at Old Wisconsin Sausage.  She loved the customers and looked forward to seeing the returning customers to catch up on their life events.  Helen was a fun-loving person who was making jokes all the time.  She was known by her children’s friends and the 17th Street kids as “Ma Hell”, and later in life it became “big Grandma”, “Granny”, “Big G” or just “G’ma”.  She looked forward to camping and travels to different parts of the U.S. and abroad to Paris and Italy.  In recent years Helen would look forward to her birthday “camping” at the Reinthaler’s get-away in Stephenson, WI.   

    Helen is survived by her children, David (Susan) Freitag of Sheboygan, Debra Freitag of Sheboygan, and Marcia (Tom) Reinthaler of Sheboygan; grandchildren, David John (DJ) (Jacinda Cole) Freitag of Manitowoc, WI, Chad Miesner (Kyrstin Dietz) of Waupaca and Nicole (Delaine) Goodell of Sheboygan, and Jeanie Reinthaler and Tommy Reinthaler of Sheboygan; great-grandson, Tyler Freitag of Two Rivers and great-granddaugher, Josie Freitag of Manitowoc; two step great-grandchildren, Jonah and Janessa Cole of Manitowoc; sister, Dorothy Nohl of Oconomowoc; two brothers-in-law, Leo Stauber of Sheboygan and Henry Freitag of Avon, IN; nephews and their families in Wisconsin, Arkansas, Georgia, Nebraska and Indiana; a nephew, niece and her family in Indiana, and other relatives and friends.

    Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, daughter, Cynthia Ann, granddaughter, Kimberly Ashley Miesner, brothers, Charles Schulze and James Schulze, sisters-in-law, Mavis (Freitag) Stauber, and Joan Schulze; brother-in-law, Norman Nohl and nephew, Eddie Freitag.

    Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12
    th Street, Sheboygan.  Fr. Paul Fliss, Pastor, will officiate.  A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.  Burial will take place at the Kohler Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name Helen M. Freitag for the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Sheboygan Progressive Care Center and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care of Helen as well as the comfort and support provided to the family.
