Arlyn M. Zawatzke, 96, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017. Arlyn was born on August 21, 1920 in Sheboygan to the late Louis and Emma (Busch) Graef. She graduated from St. Peter Claver School and from Sheboygan High School in 1938. On July 18, 1942 she married Peter Zawatzke. The couple resided on N. 27th St. for many years. Mr. Zawatzke, a retired Lake to Lake Dairy employee, preceded her in death on February 9, 1986. Mrs. Zawatzke was a member of St. Peter Claver Parish, and former member of the choir. She was a former member of St. Dominic Parish, where she was a member of the choir and when residing in Sheboygan Falls, 1990-1996 she was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and choir. She was past first vice president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0161, member of VFW and also did volunteer work at St. Peter Claver Parish.
Survivors include a daughter Jean Bergin of Sierra Vista, AZ; son, Jim (Mary) Zawatzke of Sheboygan; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews who were very close to her. She is further survived by a step granddaughter and step great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers Lester Graef and LeRoy Graef; sister Roma La Bouve; son-in-law Bob Bergin and brother-in-law Frank La Bouve.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Arlyn at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. Peter Claver Parish with a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
