Gene Hickey, age 69, of Sheboygan passed away on Sunday morning June 11, 2017. Gene was born September 17, 1947 in Sheboygan to the late Eugene C. and Ruth I. (Baumgartner) Hickey. He attended St. Clement’s Grade School and graduated from South High School in 1965. Gene furthered his education at UW- Sheboygan and then at UW-Milwaukee where he earned his BBA and MBA. He worked at his father’s business, Sheboygan County Abstract Company, from 1972 until 1982 when he purchased the business following his father’s retirement. Gene married the former Kris Mueller on March 10, 2006 (the best day of his life) in Sheboygan. He attended City Church and served as an usher and in various other volunteer roles.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Kris, daughters Brianne (Jonathan) Valdez and their son Ezra, and Kaitlin Wilke; brother Thomas Hickey; sister Mary Hickey, father-in-law and mother-in-law George and Renee Mueller all of Sheboygan, sisters-in-law Kim (Steven) Feld of Sheboygan and Nicole (Derek) Williamson of Wheatland; brother-in-law George Mueller of Osman; nieces and nephew Tyler and Kami Feld, and Peyton and Elise Williamson.
Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gene’s name for the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Gene’s family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital, Drs. Werner, Marsho, Grose, Coulis and Bettag for their care and compassion. Also thank you to the staff at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their support through Gene’s journey.
