Mary A. (Koren) Kotnik, 93, of Sheboygan passed away on Monday, April 03, 2017 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Mary was born a daughter of the late Max and Frances (Zavrsnik) Koren on August 22, 1923 in Sheboygan. She graduated from Sheboygan Central High School and went on to work for the Leverenz Shoe Company until she was married. On August 10, 1946, Mary was united in marriage to the late Vincent Kotnik. She greatly enjoyed her family as well as talking on the telephone, golfing, sewing, knitting and bowling. One of her longest memberships was to the St. Cyril choir, which she was part of since she was 13 years old. In addition to her family, she greatly loved all the dogs that were part of the family.
Mary is survived by her children Vincent (Cathy) Kotnik of Milwaukee, David John Kotnik of Sheboygan, Maribeth (Bill) Burtard of Sheboygan and Teresa (Jon) Stengel of Sheboygan Falls; her honorary son, Richard (Luann) Zeller of Sheboygan; grandchildren John (Jenny), Jackie (Jason), Tina (Richard), Scott (fiancée Heather), Mandi, Shannon and Chad; great-grandchildren Owen, Zachary and one on the way; as well as nieces, a nephew and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Vincent, her parents, her son William, her brother Max, her brother-in-law Tony; her sisters-in-law Mary and Melba, and other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 822 New Jersey Ave., Sheboygan, with Rev. Richard Cerpich presiding. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church for a time of visitation on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials preferred to the Sheboygan County Humane Society in Mary’s name.
The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to Dr. Beiersdorf, the staffs of Terrace Place, Countryside Manor and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their wonderful care of Mary. An additional expression of gratitude to Mary’s dear friend Dixie Jelovnik for his caring concern over Mary.
