    Died on Feb 14, 2017 and resided in Plymouth, Wisconsin

    Sidonia Saaman, age 93, formerly of Sheboygan, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Plymouth.  She was born in Sheboygan on March 28, 1923 the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Jaeckels Stoelb. 

    While growing up Sidonia attended local schools in the Sheboygan area.  On June 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Saaman in Sheboygan.  He preceded her in death in 1989.  Sidonia was employed as a waitress for many years at various restaurants throughout Sheboygan. 

    Sidonia was a lifelong member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.  Throughout her life she enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and sheepshead, bingo, baking and traveling with her family to many states to visit family and friends.  She was a kind and giving person and was known to help and assist her family in any way she could. 

    Survivors include her two children, Kathy(Leo) Swigert, of Plymouth and Glenn(Cheryl) Saaman, of Vermont; eight grandchildren, Thomas(Greta) Swigert, of Hartford, Michael(Stephani) Swigert, of Sheboygan, Rebekah(Ryan) Laber, Daniel(Alexis) Saaman, Lydia(Isaac) Ricker, Paul Saaman, Abraham Saaman and Bethany Saaman, all of Vermont; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Allegra, Audrey, of Hartford, Justin and Jacob, of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Janice Becker, of Kiel and Karen(Bob) Richter, of Kelly Lake.   Sidonia was further survived by many other relatives, friends and special friend and neighbor, Angie Fritz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert, son, Eugene Saaman, a grandson, Jonathan Swigert, brothers, Roland(Dorie) Stoelb, Bernard(Marion) Stoelb, Jerome Stoelb, Frederick(Florence) Stoelb, Donald(AnnaMae) Stoelb, Floyd(Betty) Stoelb and Kenneth Stoelb; three sisters, Matilda(Harvey) Kleist, Lucille Ohm, and Marcella (Casper) Marksthaler, along with her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Melvin(Agnes) Saaman and Wallace Becker. 

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with Rev. Paul Fliss officiating.  Family and friends may gather at church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. 

    In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Sidonia’s name.  A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Atrium Post Acute Care and her nieces, Judy Wiesman and Janet Sand for the compassion and care that was shown to Sidonia.
